When someone has been teased, belittled, put down and made fun of most of their life, it is understandable why, they might develop low self-esteem and why they may have a very negative self- image. It might also explain why, they have a poor and negative opinion of themselves.

If you have a poor self-image, it will be much easier for you to lose faith, hope and confidence in yourself and in everyone around you. When someone, especially a child, has been called ugly, cruel, nasty names over and over from the time they were very young, after a while, they might start to believe that all the ugly, nasty things that others have said, or are are saying about them are true. Their negative opinions of us, then becomes our opinions of us, we accept them as being true. We begin to see ourselves the way they see us. That can be devastating and destructive emotionally. It can have very serious repercussions for us later on in life, it can paralyze and cripple us emotionally.

Sooner or later, at some point in our lives, we will have to decide whose, thoughts and opinions of us, do we value the most? Just how much stock and how much value should we place on what others say about us, especially when they don't know anything about us? Should we even care, when we are judged solely, on our physical appearance instead of by our character and who we are on the inside? Being different, doesn't mean being worthless or being a loser.

What Ajari failed to realize was that although he was different and he was not like anyone else on the planet, that didn't make him a loser, an outcast or a weirdo, it made him special and unique, he was one of a kind. He had special gifts, talents and abilities that no one else on the planet has.

Ajari had so many wonderful things to share with the world. But because he believed all the negative, bad things that others were saying about him, he never used any of his gifts, he never did anything useful with them. Every time he tried and failed at something or if things didn't turn out the way he wanted, it only reinforced his negative feelings, and his negative self image, that he wasn't good enough and he could never do anything right.

If Ajari was ever going to be truly happy, he needed to realize something, just like we all do. That is, that we have to be ourselves, who we were intended and are suppose to be, we have to live our own lives. If we spend our lives trying to be or wanting to be like everyone else, or if we set standards and goals for ourselves that are unreasonable and too high, we will never be happy, instead, we will be in for the biggest fall and the greatest disappointment of our lives, we will never reach our full potential or discover who we are meant to be or what the purpose of our life is. We will always be sad, miserable and empty inside, and everything we do, will always turn out to be big disappointment and a failure.

We will never, be able to measure up or live up to the unreasonable high, impossible standards that are placed on us, by others or by ourselves, we will always feel small and helpless when we fail to do so.  If we try to live up to them, we will only confirm the belief, that we are not good enough. To be truly happy and successful, we must be our authentic self, our true self

If we believe that we will fail at something or that we are not good enough, we will never give it our very best, we will never give 100%. We will never stick with anything long enough, to get it right or to succeed at it. We will not have enough faith and confidence in ourselves to see things through to the end. We will give up too quickly, and our worst fears of failure will end up coming true, because we didn't see it through.

If we give up too soon, no one, including us, will ever know what we are truly capable of. No one, will ever get to see the beauty inside us, they will never get to see our true nature, to see us for who we are, or what we can do, because we will never let the the light that is in us shine. What is even worst, is that we will never discover our true beauty, because we will always be blinded by all the ugliness, the negativity and the craziness around us. Our gifts and talents will remain buried deep inside us and wither away, they will never see the light of day.
